External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Leader of the House JP Nadda are scheduled to address the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday as the ongoing debate on Operation Sindoor continues in Parliament, a government source confirmed. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to deliver the concluding remarks.

According to the source, EAM Jaishankar will begin the discussion at 1 PM, focusing on India’s diplomatic response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which triggered Operation Sindoor. He will be followed by JP Nadda, who is slated to speak around 3 PM.

The Rajya Sabha began deliberations on the operation on Tuesday, while the Lok Sabha had taken up the discussion a day earlier, on Monday.

Earlier, both Jaishankar and Shah addressed the Lok Sabha, with Jaishankar detailing India’s diplomatic outreach post-attack—particularly its engagement with the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

“Our focus was the UN Security Council. The challenge was that at that time, Pakistan was a member of the Council, while India was not,” Jaishankar pointed out, underscoring the complexities of diplomatic navigation in such situations.

During the same Lok Sabha session, Home Minister Amit Shah also highlighted the swift action taken under Operation Mahadev, where three terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack were neutralized by Indian security forces.

“In a joint operation, the Indian Army, CRPF, and J&K Police successfully eliminated the terrorists responsible for the brutal killing of civilians,” Shah stated, affirming the government’s commitment to national security.

As the high-stakes debate resumes today in the upper house, all eyes are on the statements by key ministers that will further clarify India’s security and diplomatic stance in the wake of one of the year’s most significant counterterror operations.
